It Ain't Me Babe

Today is the illustrious Bob Dylan's 70th birthday, so of course I'm doing a wee blog post on some Dylan covers. It has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that my exam is mere days away, and I have revisioned myself out. [You guys know what I'm talking about, right? When you know you should be working hard but you have absolutely no ability whatsoever to concentrate on it. It's a lovely state of apathy.]

Most uni students have by now finished, but for us poor souls still with noses to the grindstone, it's just one last push then done! .......and then resits in June. Such fun.

  4. If Dylan covers are your thing, My Chemical Romance's Desolation Row cover's certainly worth a listen!
If it's not a Dylan song now i'll feel such a tart...

  6. Hmmm it's a very different version. Part of the reason that I love Bob Dylan's songs is that they seem to transcend genres, you find such a variety of artists reinterpreting them to amazingly different results.

God, how much of a dick do I sound? Transcends? I stand by it though - just don't let me catch Miley Cyrus 'reinterpreting' Bob.

  8. The 13th Floor Elevator's cover of "It's All Over Now Baby Blue" is a pretty spectacular, slightly psychedelic version. Supposedly, Dylan liked their version better than his own.

  10. congrats on making blogs of note. wonderful post on Dylan. my husband and I did a musical report on "Boots of Spanish Leather" for our Music class in high school, 40 years ago. The teacher didn't like it but we did a great job. We are reminiscing. Thank you for the lovely version.

I love this post, my boyfriend introduced me to Bob Dylan and I find him really inspirational now. Everytime I listen to his music I find some new depth to it.

  16. Wow! Dylan - what a legend. 70 years old. Did you guys know that he was recently in Israel too. That was quite a show. Tens of thousands of screaming fans just waiting to hear from the legend. I'm a gamer and I love 888ladies so it's getting kind of cool! Let's break it on down to the beat of Hey Mr Tamborine Man!
